Srikanth addala who debuted with Kotha Bangaru Lokam (2008) had reportedly worked for two years on the script of this film. The film was reportedly planned to be made with Pawan kalyan and Venkatesh, but the former left the project citing schedule conflicts. Dil Raju confirmed in early January 2012 that samantha was part of the project and would be paired opposite Mahesh Babu. Mickey J mayer was roped in to score the music. K.V.Guhan would handle the cinematography, while Anatha sreeram will be penning the lyrics for the songs.
